Where convention gets left at the door and we're rewriting what luxury actually means
Look, we'll be straight with you - when we opened Grimshard Continuum back in 2019, folks thought we'd lost our minds. A hotel that doubles as an art installation? A restaurant where science meets culinary rebellion? Yeah, we heard all the skeptics.
But here's the thing - we were tired of cookie-cutter luxury. Those places where everything's beige and predictable? That ain't us. We wanted to create something that'd make you feel something, y'know? A place where you'd walk in and go "whoa, what IS this place?"
Time's weird, right? It bends, stretches, sometimes flies by. That's kinda our whole thing. Every space here is designed to mess with your perception a bit - in a good way. Step into our observatory lounge at sunset and you'll see what I mean.
We're not about throwing money at gold-plated nonsense. Real luxury? That's about experiences you can't get anywhere else. It's about that moment when you taste something you've never experienced before, or when you're standing in our art gallery at 2am because you couldn't sleep and suddenly you're having a conversation with a stranger about life.
Nestled right on West Georgia, we're in the heart of downtown but we feel like another dimension. Vancouver's always been this creative, forward-thinking city - we just wanted to match that energy. The mountains, the ocean, the arts scene... it all flows through what we do here.
Every detail, from the molecular gastronomy dishes our chef experiments with to the way light plays through our suites at different times of day - it's all intentional. We've got artists-in-residence, rotating installations, and yeah, sometimes things get a little weird. But that's kinda the point.
How we got from crazy idea to... well, crazier reality
Three architects, two artists, and way too much coffee. We're sketching on napkins, arguing about what luxury even means anymore. The concept? A hotel that's also a living art piece.
Construction starts and everyone thinks we're nuts. Tilted walls? A rooftop observatory? Suites with time-distortion lighting? Our contractors loved us (sarcasm intended). But slowly, it started coming together.
November 15th, we opened our doors. The first guests walked in, jaws dropped, cameras came out. Our molecular gastronomy restaurant served dishes that defied physics. The art gallery hosted its first midnight showing. We were official.
Design awards, culinary accolades, features in magazines we didn't even know existed. But honestly? The best recognition was guests extending their stays because they didn't wanna leave. That's when we knew we'd done something right.
We added the Immersive Spa & Wellness Sanctuary - think less cucumber water, more sensory journeys. Our art gallery expanded. The observatory lounge became THE spot in Vancouver for watching the stars while sipping cocktails that change color.
We're still pushing boundaries, still experimenting, still making people question what a hotel can be. Got new installations coming, collaborations with boundary-pushing artists, and honestly? We're just getting started.
Yeah, we've got a team. And they're kinda brilliant.
